What do you think?

I’m thinking of reinserting the “B” and the “E” in my name.  On all my formal documents, my name is spelled a-b-b-i-e.  Except my diplomas, i think.  Did you know that?  In 6th grade, i thought my name was too round, so i took the extra letters out.  It worked.  i felt better.  But now, i think it might be good to have a nice round full name, to better match my self.  Especially in consideration of the particular letters B and E (Be) – seem familiar? – that went missing.  So i’d like to know – what do you think?

  • In support! I like the notion of a “round full name, to better match my self.” It’s time to ‘be’ more fully, and time to gather back up that part of your name.

  • Well, geez. Sounds like you have a couple really good reasons to support the decision. I’m for it, although it’ll take some getting used to…

    I support!!

  • Such great options. Let me type them out for my self. Abbie. Abi. Abbie. Abi. Abbie. Abi. It’s tough. Cause, I fell in love with Abi. But now, this Abbie is sounding like the actuallized version of Abi-A. And knitting B and E together, that’s tight!

  • to echo gavin that is pretty tight. but i too fell in love with abi. sigh. does a rose by any other name smell as sweet? yes it does. and the love remains the same….

  • oh, how poetic! of all reasons to change (or rechange) spelling, i say yours is pretty great.

  • A few weeks ago I was thinking about your name and wanted to ask you when and why you changed the spelling. How wacky!

Anyway, I love the original spelling of your name. “Abi,” which I also love, has always been, like, a DJ version of your name. DJ Abi, yo.

    I say go for it.

  • I say, emphatically, “NO!” I love the spelling of Abi. Abbie is too wordy or at least too letter-y and you’re far to concise a person for that. Also I love you and will spell your name however you ask me to.

  • There are many Abbies in the world, but you are the only one that I’ve met who spells their name like that. I’ve always known you as “Abi,” and to me, it has always fit you perfectly.

You have always been (in my eyes) this amazing, vibrant, artistic, UNIQUE person. And your name was a representation of that, of how you were the only Abi in the world, and so many others were pale shades of your light.

I like your reasoning for changing it, though, so whatever you choose, I will abide by. (Just so you know, though, the closest name to your current spelling is “Abia,” which is Arabic for great. I thought that was cool.)
